About the Laboratory

Our laboratory studies the mechanisms by which photosynthesis adapts to environmental conditions. Virtually all energy required for life on Earth ultimately depends on solar radiant energy, and photosynthesis forms the foundation of this energy flow. Therefore, achievements in photosynthesis research have the potential to contribute to a wide range of fields related to living organisms. Research outcomes in both the fundamental and applied aspects of photosynthesis will also play an important role in addressing today’s energy and environmental challenges.

In our laboratory, each student pursues an individual research topic, and we continue to produce original, cutting-edge results that are unique even on a global level. We welcome students who are interested not only in photosynthesis but also in a broad range of scientific fields. Please feel free to contact Prof. Masuda at masuda.s.4536[at]m.isct.ac.jp.
